Online Support Online support can be designed through your company’s intranet or through an external provider. The site should have readings, appropriate videos a blog to share experiences.

Phase 1: Being Coached Coaching Self-Assessment
  • Complete assessments that will provide insights into your personal style and coaching capability (no more than 1 hour)

  • Set goals for your coaching experience (2 hour face-to-face session)
  • Debrief on Psychometric and Coaching Assessment Results

Being Coached – Six months
  • You will receive 2 hours of coaching per month for six months to experience the concepts and frameworks for coaching that you will then practice in the second half of the program (12 hours of coaching over six months)

Phase 2: Coaching Others Coaching Others – Six months
  • You will provide coaching to two coachees for six months (24 hours of coaching others)

Coaching Others – Supervision
  • You will receive supervision for 1 hour each month to discuss your clients. Consider the impact you are having on them and they on you. You will discuss how to address specific opportunities and challenges in the coaching process.

Phase 1: Leadership / Coaching Assessment & Development Session

Objectives

  • Gain deeper insights into your coaching and leadership style and capabilities.
  • Crystallize personal and professional defining moments to understand your greatest strengths as a coach and leader, your future aspirations as a coach, and how you need to develop to achieve these goals.
  • Explore how to leverage your Executive Coach/Supervisor in the 12-month program.

Experience

  • Complete online self-assessments: Coaching competencies, FIRO-B, Kolb Learning Style.
  • Complete a 2-hour face-to-face start up coaching session with your coach or supervisor to understand assessment results and set development and coaching goals.
  • Debrief and gain additional insights from your self-assessment.

Output

  • Psychometric and Competency Self-Assessment Reports.
  • Coaching Development Goals to guide your experience.

Phase 1: Being Coached

Objectives

  • Experience the value of being coached.
  • Reflect on this experience to help guide your evolution as a coach to others.

Experience

  • Two hours of coaching per month 1 hour every 2 weeks, or one 2 hour session per month.
  • Face-to-face if possible.
  • Phone or Skype coaching should be used to understand the experience and how this can work and succeed as a format for coaching.
  • Reflect with your coach on how the concepts and tools and skills that you learned in Summit 1: Foundations of Coaching are being applied.

Output

  • Personal Growth and Development against the goals you set.
  • A refined and clearer understanding about how to apply the skills and competencies of coaching based on how you and your coach worked together.
  • Greater confidence and awareness of your own coaching presence and approach as you move to Phase 2: Coaching Others.

Phase 2: Coaching Others

Objectives

  • Become confident and comfortable in coaching others with a focused, business oriented approach that supports their development, engagement, and performance.
  • Apply the principles, concepts, and skills learned and practiced in Phase 1 with your coach.
  • Experience and learn what coaching supervision is and how it helps your coaching capability.

Experience

  • Complete a full cycle of coaching with two clients in your system including: contracting, goal setting, 2 hours of coaching per month, and closure.
  • Receive feedback on your coaching from your clients at the end of six months, through an online feedback survey they will complete for you.
  • Receive an hour of supervision each month to discuss your clients, their progress, and the impact of your interactions with them on you and on them.

Output

  • Increased coaching capability and the confidence to support, challenge, engage and achieve coaching milestones with your client.
  • A great level of self-awareness in how you use self as an instrument of coaching and the impact that the relationship you have with your coachee has on you and on your coachees.
  • Ability to supervise others as they develop their coaching skills.

  • Learn core coaching concepts and build self-awareness among participants regarding their coaching styles and preferences. Experiential exercises and case studies reinforce conceptual frameworks and models (2 days).

  • Transition from being coached to coaching others. Reflect on experience of being coached, prepare for coaching others (1 day).

  • Program close Insights gained from coaching others and building a sustainable community of practice among the participants. We will assess feedback from coachees to consider how to improve in the future.

  • The Power of Asking Questions – Having impact and stretching the client’s insights
  • Practice asking questions in coaching conversations. Video and debrief.
Co-active Coaching: Growing in Relationship
  • Co-active Coaching – How the coach and client impact each other in relationship and using this to achieve coaching goals.
  • Practice coaching and being coached. Reflect on impact it has personally for the coach and the coachee.
Coaching Contracting
  • Coaching Contracting – Why is this important? What should each party expect? How do you set goals? How do you measure success?

Summit 2: Transition

  • Review group feedback on the experience of being coached and reflect on experience personal growth, relationship with coach, progress against goals.
Getting Ready to Coach your Clients
  • Refresh on coaching contracting, process, and tools.
  • Practice phases of coaching with colleagues in the program: Contracting, Setting Goals, Coaching, and Closure.
Working with a Supervisor
  • The role of your supervisor.
  • How supervision is structured.
  • How you prepare to gain the most of your supervision experience.

Summit 3: Closure

Processing Feedback from your Clients
  • Review feedback from your coaching clients (in the aggregate) and consider success areas and areas for improvement.
  • Coach each other on feedback each of you received.
Building a Community of Coaching Practice
  • Create together an approach for sustaining a community of coaching that will support you to grow and succeed as coaches in the future.
  • Consider what additional support you need online tools, external infusion of knowledge, etc.
